A young child is a fun little challenge. On the one hand, they tend to want to get into everything, and rarely show any kind of fear. But on the other hand, you can’t protect them too much. There is a happy medium where your kids are safer. They can never be entirely safe, after all.
Some ways to keep your kids safe are to make sure they in your sight when they are nearby. Keeping a watch on them might require a lot of moving around, but that’s fine. Why else would you be near them, if not so you can be around and interact with them? Being a partent involves a lot of things like this, and your kids deserve to have a lot of time with you when you can be with them. Keep in mind that lots of parents don’t have the ability to be near their kids on a regular basis. You should feel fortunate to have that kind of free time, because you might not have it later on.
Other than being around your kids, which isn’t always possible, you can also keep them safer by giving them some instructions. Some great “house rules” are to always look both ways when you get near a street, to always look carefully at a stove before you touch any part of it, and to get in the bath tub feet first. These are great little safety rules that you can explain to them as they get older. If you can explain why a rule exists, you can do a lot to make sure they actually follow it when you’re not around.
